Webinars offer an interactive method of presenting information, an eLearning experience for those wishing to invest their time in gaining insight into a topic. They are a cost-efficient way of presenting content to a mass audience. They can be a mix of visual concepts and text. But, for the majority of the time a speaker will control the online learning experience, therefore a personality must be chosen to communicate the information to the viewer.

The ‘host’ of the webinar is an important position, they must possess certain qualities, to ensure that the presentation is interesting and captures the attention of the learners. We reckon the following people would be perfect for the job…

WHO? Jennifer Lawrence

Why? Learning lines

Like an actor/actress memorises their lines, the host must rehearse their content. Remembering what you have to say and when you have to say it is of upmost importance. By making the words emotive and investing in the information portrayed to the viewers, the speakers’ passion for the subject should shine through.

WHO? Andy Murray

Why? Practice makes perfect

There’s a reason why Murray is Wimbledon champ and ranked no.2 in the world…Practice. Practice everything, your breathing, your presentation voice, your hand movements, the use of the webinar equipment and practice with an audience. Once this is perfected, the rest will come naturally, plus it takes the stresses away of throwing something together last minute.

WHO? Kevin Hart

Why? Keeping the audience entertained

Maintain focus, do not steer off the decided content, but make sure that you keep it thought-provoking. Add in some comical quips. Put yourself in the position of the viewer, would you find you interesting? Speak to the audience as though they are there in the room with you, not like you are talking to a machine. And keep it to the point, as Kevin Hart says, ‘Stop telling people more than they need to know.’

WHO? Sir David Attenborough

Why? Audio is the backbone of the presentation

The last thing you want to do is send the viewer to sleep with a monotone voice. You need to choose a speaker who is energetic, exciting and personable. They should be an expert on the topic that is being discussed so they will not misinform or shy away from questions. You could even have two or three speakers working together, to keep the audience on their toes and maintain their attention.
