Colour is a powerful tool for every business to harness. It attracts and holds attention, evokes different emotions, conveys messages on conscious and sub-conscious levels, and can assist with memorability. In a study called Impact of Colour in Marketing, researchers found that up to 90% of snap judgements made about products can be based on colour alone (depending on the product).
By using data from their collection of 40 million images and 400 million all-time downloads, Shutterstock analysed which popular colours are set to dominate design in the coming months. The research looked at how colour is perceived globally. For instance Shutterstock found that purple is getting increasingly popular in the UK, whereas interestingly pink stood out in Argentina, Russia and China.
