With the growing use of the multimedia sets and mobile technologies things are changing fast in digital marketing. Gone are the days when accessing internet required you to switch on your desktop. Now with the blink of your eye you can go online, surf about your query and even buy the product of your choice.

A major percentage of users who are online today are the mobile users which mean that it is very important for the website to be accessed through mobile. However it is very confusing as to which technology should be used in order to make the website mobile centric. In order to help you out and make a proper selection based on your requirements and expectations, this article will explain the different types of mobile friendly designs.

Mobile Friendly Design – Mobile friendly sites are the ones which do not break when accessed on the different mobile sets. In order to hit the buttons on the website or zoom in on visual media, you can always pinch or zoom the screen. One of the key advantages of these types of websites is that they are low on budget and does not take much time for development. However they do lack in experience but then with ios7 coming up with the browser enhancers, they readily improve the user experience and reduce the need for experience based websites.

Adaptive Design – Adaptive designs are the ones which adjust themselves according to the screen size of the device where it is displayed. It rearranges its elements according to the screen size of the device. This feature is achieved through the developmental style. One of the advantages of this style is that it adapts to the different screen sizes of the devices. The only disadvantage of this design is that you need to have different content for different devices which is bit difficult to maintain in case of big ecommerce websites.

Responsive / Liquid Design – Responsive design is also known as liquid design. A responsive design adjusts itself according to the dimensions of the different devices. One of the key advantages of responsive design is that it automatically adjusts the content of the website according to the size of the device. Therefore you do not have to face the issue of multiple contents for different versions of the website.

Responsive design can easily adjust the size of the images and page content sections based on the width of the screen/device being used. There are a lot of similarities between the adaptive and responsive designs however the key difference is that adaptive design is based on fixed columns and screen resolution sizes on the other hand responsive design is not fixed.

Experience Design – An experience mobile website is a mobile formatted version to display on specific mobile device. It is a complete separate design and as a result it requires a separate content structure for display. This design is implemented by parading the content so that it can fit to the size of the screen. However one of the disadvantages of this design is that these sites cannot be accessed on the desktop as they are specifically designed for the mobile devices.
