Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are to be given a boost thanks to new software created by ecommerce solutions provider, Actinic.

Actinic, which advises SMEs on social media platforms and strategies, has teamed up with Sage UK to launch Ecommerce for Sage 50 Accounts. The software will help SMEs grow their online sales revenue, streamline business operations and lower costs.

The revelation comes at a time when many companies are failing to take advantage of ecommerce opportunities, despite the great potential Britain holds for growth in the sector.

A recent government report finds that just 1.6 million (less than 1 in 3) in the UK trade online, while many British firms are simply not equipped to unlock the many benefits that trading on the web holds. The study’s alarming tone runs in line with a similarly themed investigation made by Santander, which concludes that over half of all very small businesses (VSBs) and SMEs in Britain are unable to process online payments.

The UK ecommerce market has grown by 16% in the last year and 5 times as fast as traditional commerce. Estimated to be worth over £62 billion, the UK is now the largest global ecommerce market.

By connecting seamlessly with businesses payment gateway and accounts software, Ecommerce for Sage 50 Accounts will help to lower business costs, reduce administration and save small business owners precious time and effort involved in managing multiple software solutions.

Ultimately, this will enable firms to focus on what’s important, providing a premium customer experience and growing their business.

Commenting on the power and relevance of ecommerce today, Lee Perkins EVP & Managing Director, UK & Ireland at Sage said:

“Trading online is vital for a business to flourish. For small and medium sized businesses in particular, a digital presence can be transformative, it can empower companies to find new markets, sell more products, and increase revenue. Without a well-designed and mobile friendly website or an online marketplace, it is very difficult for firms to grow revenue.”

“Ecommerce for Sage 50 Accounts offers firms a professional and integrated website that automatically processes online orders and payments whilst simultaneously keeping stock levels and Sage 50 accounts up to date,” he added.

Marc Schillaci, CEO of Actinic said:

“Ecommerce for Sage 50 Accounts is an exciting initiative in this space, delivering an ecommerce solution for any business, whether it’s an online clothing retailer, a DIY or bespoke website or even a multi-channel firm selling through other online marketplaces like eBay or Amazon.”

Following the first agreement with Sage France and Sage Spain to become their exclusive e-Commerce solution, the Oxatis Group which owns Actinic, is reinforcing its ties with the leading management software editor in Europe on the UK market.

Having announced 45% growth in 2015, the Oxatis Group is laying the foundations for its future growth by gaining access to over 2 million clients across three countries: France, Spain and the UK.
