The online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing and social networking service Instagram was launched in 2010 and was set to be a success story from the very beginning. Just two months after its launch, Instagram had reached 1 million users.

Currently it is no.1 photo sharing platform with 55 million photos posted per day and if you ever wondered how the name came about, it is a portmanteau of “instant camera” and “telegram”.

Instagram has known quite quickly over the years how to continually improve by fixing bugs, adding new features, and with the demand so obviously there, adding new photo effects or as they are more commonly known as, filters.

In 2012, Facebook acquired Instagram, attributing to the app’s exponential climb in popularity and later on that year, Instagram introduced photo tagging which extended to brands, which was seen as a business-friendly move that reportedly increased sales for these brands.

In this infographic, we’ll tell you a little more about Instagram and how it can benefit you and your business.
