One of the pieces of advice regularly shouted from the rooftops by Digital Marketing Magazine writers is to engage with your customers on social media, to look at what they like, what they talk about and to post about it. If your customers are in on a conversation, you should be as well.
And I'm here to echo that advice. Tomorrow is Halloween. I've never been a big fan of it myself, but there are plenty of people who love it. And love it or hate it, such is our mindset on social media that one way or another we'll probably air our excitement or grievances about the day.
In fact, Crimson Hexagon analysed more than four million (4,169,153 to be exact) Tweets and Facebook posts from the USA and UK. And it found that two thirds of UK posts were positive about the day. More than half (55%) were posting about general excitement for the day, 20% about costumes and 14% were from businesses or about Halloween themed giveaways. And 35% of Brits were sharing general news, links and retweets about Halloween.
Halloween is one of those days in the calendar that will have people talking. And if your customers are talking about it, you should too. So when you're thinking of this week's blog topic or the image you post tomorrow, maybe lean towards something a little more...spooky. After all, what you're aiming for from social media is engagement. And what better way to encourage engagement than to engage with what customers are engaging with?
Just a quick one today, I need to think about my Halloween blog idea!
