Brand advocates – sounds great, but what are they and how can you best connect with them? We spoke to Dan Spicer, head of the EMEA community team at Hootsuite - the world's most widely used social relationship platform – about why building advocacy should be your top priority for business growth.
What, or who, are brand advocates?
‘Brand advocates’ is a term used in the marketing world to reference a person (customers, influencers, employees) who will represent and promote your company in their respective circles. Brand advocates will endorse the products and services of your company and in many cases will embody your corporate identity in appearance, demeanour, values, and voice - they provide visibility to your brand, boosting brand awareness and ultimately sales.
Why should businesses be thinking about their advocates?
On social, brand advocates market your company through channels like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and many others, and essentially create buzz for your brand. Brand advocates are the not-so-secret weapon of many hot companies. They help the up-and-coming companies stand out among the many others in the field and help large corporates solidify their presence in the market (think Apple, Harley Davidson etc.).
What can attendees learn from your ‘Building Communities and Brand Advocacy’ workshop?
The workshop will help you understand the secret to growing a great company… and that is getting your customers to build your business. You will understand the difference between brand fans and brand advocates, how you can identify your top advocates and how to develop community programs that nurture these relationships and allow you to scale customer loyalty and advocacy to drive business success.
