We’re coming to the end of Social Media Week, but the great advice and insight keeps coming.

Here are our top four take-aways from today!

1. Niche content resonates with people and encourage sharing as it is a reflection on them. Perfect example are @BuzzFeed quizzes #SMWLDN

Specialised content has been an important topic at SMWLDN. Businesses and brands should not just be focusing on the importance of creating content, but how their content can be important to their audiences. Niche content allows you to engage a deeper connection and show a real understanding of your audience.

2. 'Don't feed the monster' when it comes to trolling it can be better to ignore rather than give attention #SMWLDN

Social media is a great tool but it’s often misused and abused. It’s important to be prepared for those circumstances where negative interaction might turn sour and become ‘trolling’. Your social media strategy should not only focus on how to encourage and engage with the positives, but how to handle the negatives. Whether this means tackling the problem or not ‘feeding the monster’, it’s important to have a strategy in place for the not-so-great side of social.

3. "Put the horse before the cart when it comes to social media." http://ow.ly/BOMgM #SMWldn #smwlondon

An interesting point raised about where social media should come in your digital marketing strategy and online presence. Club Workspace argue that you should put social before your website. Controversial? Counterintuitive? Whatever you think, we agree that social media should be one of your primary online spaces. What do you think?

4. How often do you review your SM content strategy? @socialbakers recommends quarterly to keep it fresh. #SMWLDN #SMW14 #SMWSB

Social media is ever-changing; your social strategy needs to keep up. Failing to regularly review, and where appropriate, update your strategy could at ‘best’ see your engagement remain static, or at worst, see blunders and social-backfires. By keeping your social media content strategy fresh, you will keep your social profiles fresh!
