Most people see Facebook as a social network for their personal lives, and as a tool to engage with customers in their professional lives. But it is rapidly becoming associated with a tool to learn more about customers. Businesses are increasingly using Facebook to gather data on their customers, to learn more about the way that they interact, and their interests.
Here is a brilliant example of that. GIGYA produced this infographic detailing the data compiled about the supporters of the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos, who competed in Superbowl XLVIII (48) on Sunday.

If the Seahawks or the Broncos used this data, they'd be able to see what interests their fans have, other than the team of course. They'd then be able to tailor their content to the interests, thus making it more appealing and engaging. Of course, this applies to all businesses, not just sports teams.
The power of Facebook is far beyond getting a few thousands likes on your page!
