In all aspects of our modern life we have been programmed over recent years to become risk adverse. The culture of blame has slowly but inexorably been allowed to permeate all levels of society, but what this creeping disease has usurped is our ability to recognise that accidents really do happen.

London based Egress Software Technologies recently released figures obtained via the Freedom of Information Act from the Information Commissioner’s Office that reveal the growing number of data breaches across multiple business sectors as a result of human error, accidents for want of a better word.

It is part of the human condition that we will make errors, have accidents from time to time. What is required is a form of safety net to protect us from ourselves.

We as digital marketers are not exempt from these digital accidents, in fact because of the amount of data we move around on behalf of clients the risk grows exponentially. We need to make use of a data security safety net.
