You know one of the things I really love about Integrated Live? It's not just big names from big name companies.
They're great, don't get me wrong! We've had some big names from big companies in the past, and they've delivered some of the best advice I've heard.
But what I really love is the unexpected talks, from companies and people you wouldn't normally expect. One of those is Drew Davies, a freelance SEO consultant. And he's going to be talking about a usability project he led for Unicef's fundraising team in the UK.
I don't know about you, but I wouldn't normally go to a conference like this and expect to hear from Unicef!
(P.S. I'd go see him for the tache, alone!)
What area of marketing do you specialise in?
Search – both SEO and paid.
How long have you been with a freelance consultant?
I've been a freelance consultant for six and a half years now – crikey it goes fast!
How long have you been in marketing?
I was the fifth person to join the agency Greenlight, over 13 years ago.
Why do you do what you do?
I love search. I love trying to understand algorithmic twists and turns. And I love improving websites.
Which marketing platform do you use the most?
Now that the Google Adwords Keyword Planner tool has become so clunky, I'm leaning on Moz's Keyword Explorer tool more and more.
If you could only use one marketing platform for the rest of your life, what would it be?
In terms of SEO, Moz ticks a lot of boxes.
What is your favourite thing about marketing?
The immediacy of it.
Is content still king?
Oh, it's king. At the end of the day, we just want to sit around the campfire and tell stories.
In a sentence, what's your presentation about?
A warts and all account of the usability project I led for Unicef UK's fundraising team – presented by myself and Unicef's Isabelle Andrews.
You can find Drew and Isabelle's presentation on Unicef's usability project in the Keynote Theatre at 12:30pm at Integrated Live on 16 November, but you'll have to register for your free ticket first:
