As you probably know, I've been spending the past few weeks talking to the Integrated Live speakers, to find out a bit more about their journey and what they do.
Next up is Paul Walsh, founder and CEO of Infinity.
What area of marketing do you specialise in?
Agency and MarTech.
How long have you been with the company?
Well as founder and CEO, I have been with Infinity from the beginning, we have been going for 6 years now.
How long have you been in marketing?
For 20 years I have been an Internet entrepreneur and have founded a number of Internet-based business in marketing and technology, specifically, Jellyfish the largest independent digital marketing agency in the UK and most recently Infinity, the leading call tracking business.
Why do you do what you do?
Love building things. Businesses or tech products, and enjoy working with smart people to achieve it.
Which marketing platform do you use the most? (Can’t be your own)
Used to be Google Analytics but generally don’t login in these days as liked to focus on the bigger picture, and we use Salesforce to roll up the strategic view.
If you could only use one marketing platform for the rest of your life, what would it be? (Can’t be your own)
Flexibility would be the key here as things evolve. So if it was a tool I would say Excel, but if I had to name a platform then I would say Salesforce.
What is your favourite thing about marketing?
Metrics, I love the basic metrics of ROI, it's measuring it is always the challenge. In my opinion, marketers don’t spend enough time on getting back to basics.
Is content still king?
Yes – but it’s more about engagement and how it is measured.
In a sentence, what's your presentation about?
Over the last 65 years we have witnessed an incredible shift in human communication driven by technology. These shifts have had profound effects on how we live, act and work together. By 2050 the way we communicate is likely to be changed completely and understanding how this might evolve is key for businesses to understand so they don’t get left in the past.
You can find Paul's presentation on the evolution of communication across time in the Innovation & Insight Theatre at 10:30am at Integrated Live on 16 November, but you'll have to register for your free ticket first:
